
Last year the clematis bloomed way earlier than is typical around our area. This year its maturity in late April seems more typical.
BTW, no animals will be allowed to graze this part of the field until the Clematis plant is safely fenced off, for the safety of both the plant and the alpacas. (I assume based on experience, that I need to place welded wire fence panels with 5×8” squares at least 6 feet from anything I don’t want alpacas to eat. They reach through with their long necks, and LEAN on the fence, and they have prehensile lips (camel family.)
