This Sugarbowl clematis (Clematis hirsutissima) appeared in bloom in one of the pastures of Sunswept Hills Farm in April of 2022. It has never been noticed in the farm in the last 70 years. We don’t know if a seed blew in, was pooped out by a passing bird, or whether a seed was hidden in the seed bank and was brought to near the surface by tunneling rodents. We are so excited!
